TKI UNIVERSITY

Time and time again we have heard coaches give the feedback to goalkeepers “You need to be a better student of the game.”

But what does that even look like? What does it look like to be more than just a shot-stopper? How do I decide where the most valuable pass is? What does it look like to protect the space in behind the backline? How do I regulate my emotions so that I can make rational decisions in high pressure situations?

We want to help you develop EVERY aspect of your game, including your technical application and your tactical understanding. We want to help you not just be able to dive and stop shots, but also teach you how to initiate the attack and develop effective methods to solve pressure with the ball at your feet. We want to help you efficiently communicate and organize your team, and help you to grow your mentality.

In order to help goalkeepers truly become “Students of the game”, we have created a fully virtual online school for goalkeeping, TKI University. TKI University is a 6 month course that will take place through July-Decemeber 2024. Only 10 goalkeepers will be accepted into our fourth annual class. Classes are live on Sunday evenings at 8PM EST and will be recorded for those that have to miss.

Goalkeepers will meet via Zoom with TKI Director Jill Loyden three times per month. Two meetings will be classroom sessions for 45-60 minutes that will cover technical, tactical, and mental aspects of the position. In the final meeting of the month, each goalkeeper will have an individual Zoom meeting with Coach Loyden to discuss individual specific needs pertaining to any and all areas of the position. Each goalkeeper will receive an Individual Development Plan (IDP) quarterly which they will discuss in their individual meeting, as well as an action plan to develop targeted areas of your game.

This course is for serious goalkeepers who are committed to at least 1-2 hours of homework per week. Goalkeepers will be challenged to present projects, work with other students to breakdown matches, study different types of goalkeepers, and read books throughout the school year. If you are interested in joining our 2024 course, please register below!
